We're on a mission to open 100 million brokerage accounts within the next ten years. Building the infrastructure for FinTech companies to launch an investing feature or product in Europe. Delivering the full value chain of brokerage through one API.

Over the last quarters, we focused on bringing the first version of the API to the market. Thousands of developers signed up and hundreds started to build their individual use cases with us. This resulted in 80+ inquiries from companies to launch their own stock trading UI with With 15 million of fresh funding, we are now taking the next steps toward our mission: Building out our capabilities to allow (Fin)Tech companies to offer investment opportunities to their customers.

Your Mission:

As Head of Finance & Accounting, you will be the first in your role, tasked with building the foundations for Finance, Accounting, Financial Reporting, Tax, Financial Steering & Controlling in the regulated business of You will be responsible for all financial and accounting processes, driving the development of Finance and Accounting within and outside of the organization and advising on any implications. At we value ownership a lot. Meaning you will have autonomy in shaping your area of responsibility. Reporting to our managing director back-office, and working with a team of experienced tech, legal and regulatory professionals alongside you. Leverage your previous experiences and helping us to build the investment infrastructure for the next 100 million retail investors in Europe.

  • Prepare and analyze the consolidated monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements as well as the annual reports.
  • Work to automate any reporting processes as far as possible and/or finding software solutions where suitable.
  • Own the preparation of statutory financial statements.
  • Support internal and external financial audits.
  • Work closely with finance for regular tax and financial planning.
  • Contribute to the preparation of the consolidated annual financial statements.
  • Drive the further development of internal and external reporting, the accounting of complex issues and the technical and procedural implementation of new accounting standards in our accounting system.
  • Support operational teams by advising on accounting implications and informing on strategic decision making.

Job requirements

You will be successful in this role if:

  • You have gained several years of experience in an investment banking, regulated fintech or consulting role with hands-on regulatory account and tax experience.
  • You have built up extensive knowledge of German-GAAP and financial services accounting processes: HGB accounting is required, IFRS knowledge is a plus.
  • Brokerage excites you and with that you have a keen interest in general ledger and sub-ledger systems. Ideally, you had prior professional touchpoints with it.
  • You thrive on ownership. This is a mission critical topic, being hands-on and willing to build something from the ground up is key here.
  • Even in fast paced environments like ours, you cope well with ambiguity & uncertainty, you know how to meet tight deadlines and don’t lose focus of details.
  • You are a great communicator. Meaning you are able to break complex issues down, put them into simple words, whilst being concise. Communicating them to a diverse audience and key stakeholders comes natural to you.
  • You are able to sift through the noise and assess the right priorities.
  • “This is not my job!” is not part of your vocabulary - you are intrinsically motivated to deliver value for our customers by taking initiative and challenging the status quo, even if this means admitting one's own shortcomings and changing things.
